Air Asia Gave Bribe Of 5 Million Dollar  To Ex-UPA  Minister

Private Airline Company Air Asia was given a bribe of  $5 million to an aviation minister of the UPA Government for international licensing and FIPB approval for foreign investment. This is stated by former Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Air Asia Mr. Mrithyunjay Chandilya.




Chandilya told that the then Aviation minister  was given the bribe through Singapore Bank. However, the names of  the ministers have not been revealed at the moment.



Air Asia has rejected all these allegations. When asked about this, former civil aviation minister Praful Patel said that  when Air Asia was dealt, he was not a minister and he has no idea about this.



The CBI has registered a case against alleged  violation of rules for obtaining international flight licenses.Air Asia Malaysia Group CEO Anthony Francis 'Tony Fernandez' in addition to the CBI FIR, besides travel food owner Sunil Kapur, Air Asia director R. Venkataraman, Aviation Advisor  Deepak Talwar, Singapore's SNR trading director Rajendra Dubey and unknown government employees are included in the FIR.

CBI has alleged that Fernandez has removed the current 5/20 rule of alleged lobbying with government officials to  get the license and make changes in the regulatory policy. Officials siad that in this case, on six places including Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru was raided.


An Airline Company must have at least five-years of  experience for international licensing and 20 aircraft fleet. According to CBI Officials, these rules are ignored in the deal.
